Fun (?) at Sing and Sign

We do a weekly baby "sing and sign" class, and here's a picture of Blake with his mates. I now know how to induce a frantic and terror-filled cry: attempt to put your baby headfirst into the middle of a circle of 7 other babies' heads!! I'll try to get a shot next week of him actually enjoying the class...this was at the end when they were all a bit tired!!

Staying busy

Well, Blake is certainly keeping us on our toes. The crawling is now fully legitimate, which means that we have a dire need to do some "baby-proofing" of our flat. I haven't had much time to post but here are a few recent photos: we watched Daddy play cricket in Regent's Park on Saturday, and Blake was really taken by the men's gymnastics on the tv. He must have found men in tights hilarious!

It has been a relatively stressful couple of days as we have decided to put our flat on the market (!) and possibly move out of London, to St Albans. S-T-R-E-S-S-F-U-L! But exciting...

Dinner time

The first colorful food (after baby rice) - sweet potatoes! I am not actually sure whether any sweet potatoes were consumed, but it was a very messy process. Can you imagine if you ended up with your food all over you, up your nose and in your ears after eating?! Ha ha ha...

Summer blues

I've decided the definition of SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) needs revision. From the Seasonal Affective Disorder Association, I read the following:
SAD is a type of winter depression that affects an estimated half a million people every Winter between September and April, in particular during December, January and February.
It is caused by a biochemical imbalance in the hypothalamus due to the shortening of daylight hours and the lack of sunlight in winter.
For many people SAD is a seriously disabling illness, preventing them from functioning normally without continuous medical treatment.
For others, it is a mild but debilitating condition causing discomfort but not severe suffering. We call this subsyndromal SAD or 'winter blues'.

I do honestly think they might need to revisit this definition after spending July and August in the UK. This country seems not to have heard about the "dog days" of summer! Wearing shorts, swimming, needing to wear sunscreen...?! If anything, the only thing I'm feeling related to dogs is that I'm going to go barking mad if I look at another weekend forecast that calls for rain and highs of 62F! Every so often I close my eyes and wonder if I click my heels if I could end up on a lounge chair in Casa las Brisas on the Pacific Coast of Mexico, where Matt and I spent our honeymoon (http://www.brisasdemita.com/gallery.html)!

Some more pleasant news was Blake's sleeping til 4:15 last night. I was reaching breaking point but now that clock gets reset and I feel ok!

Celeb-spotting streak continues!

I had stood in line at Sainsbury's off Ladbroke Grove for about 3 minutes before I realized I was behind Jamie Cullum, jazz-pop singer and pianist!

This is the best I could muster with my camera phone (we were in the "basket-only" queue so he was done quickly and I was fumbling), but I found another photo online that shows that this is definitely him based on his lower legs in my shot!

On the move!

Blake can sit up pretty well but prefers to be on the move, so I can't really leave him alone in a room or else he motors to get closer to whatever tempts him (preferred object of desire: Matt's shoes - yum!). He now weighs 16lbs, 15 oz and likes to use his strength to try to roll over on the changing table (cue the best stern voice I can muster!). Sigh, I vaguely remember when he would just lie in our arms and look around at the world from a relaxed vantage point...the all-night sleep still eludes us.

DwL staff vacation

Please note that the entire staff of DwL will be on vacation from tomorrow; check back after the 9th for more updates!

There's a creeper in the house...

Blake is on the move - it can't quite be called crawling, but I think creeping might be the accurate term. Here is the "creep sequence" from this morning...nb: the editor did not move him and all progress across the blanket is his own!
